Getting Rid of Unwanted Files and Directories

The Delete Button is your means of removing old and unwanted files and directories. Simply select a file or directory in the file box and click the Delete Button.

All you need to do is push the OK button to delete the file/directory or the Browser Back Button to cancel your decision to delete.

The Browser Back Button will return you to the main screen.

If you delete a file or directory, you will be returned to an updated main page with a notice that the file or directory has been deleted.

Note: One of the benefits of having your files on webhosting is that we have about six months of backup. So, if you mistakenly delete a file or directory, it can be restored. (There is a charge for restoring files.) However, any changes made the day of deletion are not saved since the back-up saves the website during early morning hours.

Multiple files/directories can be selected for deletion. Depending on the platform you are on, use either the Shift or Command (the Open-Apple key) to select multiple files and then hit the Delete Button.

Delete may take a few moments to a few minutes depending on how much you are deleting.

Special Note

If you have set the option for WebSpinner to update your index.html files for you (see the page on the PREFS Button for details on how to do this) then WebSpinner will prompt you as to whether or not you want an automatic update to your index.html file to reflect the deletion(s). If you say yes, then WebSpinner will update your index.html file for you. If you say no, then your file will remain untouched and you must perform any necessary editing yourself, if you use the index.html file as an index to files in the directory.

Note: Even if you have your preferences set for WebSpinner to prompt you, this will only appear when you are working in a directory with an index.html file.
