A Way to Move and Copy Files
The Move Button allows you to move or copy files or
directories from their current directory to any other directory you have access to.
To use the feature:
- Highlight the directory or file you wish to move or copy.
- Select the Move Button. A new page is loaded.
- If you have access to more than one home directory, choose the
correct destination home directory.
- You will then be shown a list of subdirectories contained in your
home directory.
- If you want to place the file/directory into the directory currently
shown in the path listing at the top of the page, press the Select
button.
- Or, if you want to place the file/directory into a subdirectory of
the displayed directory, highlight the subdirectory
and choose the Open button. You will then be shown a new window in
which the subdirectory becomes the current directory. Repeat step 4
until you have chosen the correct destination directory for the
file/directory by pressing the Select button.
- A new page is loaded. Edit the File/Directory Name if
necessary.
- Select either the Move or Copy radio button.
Special Notes
You need to be "in" the directory when you move or copy the file/directory.
If you have set WebSpinner to update your index.html
files for you (see the page on the PREFS
Button for details on how to do this) then you will see an
addition to the page-- one that looks similar to this:
WebSpinner will prompt you as to whether or not you want an
automatic update to your index.html file to reflect the move/copy. If
you say yes, then WebSpinner will update your index.html file for you. If
you say no, then your file will remain untouched and you must perform any
necessary editing yourself.
Note: Even if you have your preferences set for Web
Spinner to prompt you, this different page will only appear when you
are working in a directory with an index.html file.
- Press the Move/Copy button near the bottom of the page to
finish the action.
Multiple files/directories can be selected for moving. Depending on the
platform you are on, use either the Shift or Command (
Open-Apple) key to select multiple files and then click the
Move Button.
